Hot water systems
No hot water? Most of our hot water replacements are completed on the same day, and our vans carry the most common gas storage units.
Repairs
We repair all major brands, including Rheem, Rinnai, Dux, Bosch and Thermann. Common repairs include pilot lights that won't stay lit, faulty thermostats, leaking relief valves and failed elements. A repair is usually worth it if your system is under 8 years old and the tank isn't leaking.
A leaking tank can't be repaired, so the system needs replacing.
Replacements (supplied and installed)
| System | Typical household | Price from |
|---|---|---|
| Gas storage, 135–170 L | 2–4 people | $1,890 |
| Continuous-flow gas (instant) | Any size; never runs out | $2,350 |
| Electric storage, 250–315 L | 3–5 people | $1,750 |
| Heat pump, 270–315 L | 3–5 people; lowest running cost | $3,990 before rebates |
Prices include removal and disposal of your old system, a new tempering valve and the compliance certificate. If your installation needs extra work, for example moving the unit, a new gas line or a larger flue, we'll tell you before we start.
Rebates
Heat-pump systems may be eligible for a Solar Victoria hot water rebate and Victorian Energy Upgrades discounts. Eligibility and amounts change, so we check them for you when we quote and apply any discount directly to your invoice.
Which system should I choose?
- Continuous-flow gas suits families who never want to run out.
- Heat pumps cost the most up front but the least to run, especially with solar panels, and they don't need gas.
- Gas storage is the lowest-cost replacement if you already have gas.
Tips while you wait
- If water is leaking from the tank, turn off the cold water valve at the inlet and, for gas units, turn the gas control to "off".
- For electric systems, switch off the hot water circuit at the switchboard.
